Accommodation in the surroundings

The foundation stone was laid in July 1902 and the opening ceremony took place in July 1903. In addition to the main large hall with a stage and galleries and the smaller Fügner Hall, the building housed the society rooms. In 1911, the Tyrš Hall was added, and in 1927 a cinema was set up. The Sokolovna served not only for sports but also for cultural activities of the inhabitants. Concerts, social gatherings and theatre performances were held there.

In 1930-1931, another gymnasium was built according to the design of architect František Krásný and the adjacent courtyard was adapted for sports.

TheFreedom Monument was unveiled in 1927 to honour the soldiers from Příbram who did not return from the battlefields of World War I. The monument was designed by Jan Kotěra. The author of the sculpture of the young man, cast in bronze, is Václav Šára, a sculptor from Příbram.
