Where to go in Příbram in September? For culture, history and experiences

Summer is slowly drawing to a close, but there’s certainly no reason to stay at home in Příbram. September will bring the opening of a revamped nature trail, theatre performances in the city streets, a historical festival at Svatá Hora, a day dedicated to sustainable transport, and the chance to see Příbram from above. And if you want to get to know the town really well, why not join a guided walk? We’ve picked out six events in September that are well worth a visit.

Litavka Forest Park: an educational trail mainly for children

The September programme kicks off with a day on the nature trail in Litavka Forest Park, which has been refurbished. Entertainment has been organised for visitors in collaboration with the Příbram Children’s and Youth Centre and will run throughout the day.

Pískfest: theatre takes to the streets

This street theatre festival will take performances from traditional theatres straight onto the streets and other venues across Příbram. You can look forward to theatre companies, music and, above all, an atmosphere you simply cannot experience in a theatre auditorium.

Příbram’s Svatá Hora Shalmaj: Svatá Hora goes back in time

Music, swordsmen, jugglers, period crafts and a fair set against the backdrop of one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the Czech Republic. The Příbram Svatá Hora Festival is one of the traditional September events and offers the perfect opportunity to combine a visit to the festival with a tour of Svatá Hora.

The programme traditionally also includes the Firefighters’ Run up the Svatá Hora Stairs, which commemorates the devastating fire at Svatá Hora in 1978.

Urban Mobility Day: the city belongs to pedestrians and cyclists too

Leave your car at home for a while and discover other ways to get around town. Urban Mobility Day will feature a programme focused on safe and sustainable transport, exercise and activities for children and adults.

Towers and Viewing Towers Day: discover Příbram from above

How often do you get the chance to see familiar places from a completely different perspective? Towers and Viewpoints Day will open up views of Příbram and its surroundings.

Set off in search of Příbram’s stories: an evening stroll

The September programme will be complemented by a guided walk. Together with a guide, you’ll explore places you might normally walk past without knowing their history and stories. The walk is called ‘Evening Stroll, or In the Footsteps of Drda, Drtikol and Dvořák’. The route takes you past the memorial plaque to Jan Drda, across Wenceslas Square and on to T. G. Masaryk Square. The walk lasts 1.5 hours.
