Spring pilgrimage to the pearls of Berounsko, Brda and Podbrdsko

The tourist destinations of Beroun, Brdy and Podbrdsko and the Ultreia association have jointly prepared the second year of the spring walking pilgrimage to the local pearls, which will take place on Saturday 27 April and will start this year's tourist season. This year, the route will be reversed and will lead from Mníšek pod Brdy to Beroun.

The aim of the spring pilgrimage is to offer visitors the opportunity to discover interesting places in the region, to enjoy the beauty and tranquillity of nature and to experience the feeling that pilgrims have felt when wandering to holy places in the past. The route will lead through the landscape of the Brda Ridges and the Bohemian Karst.

The pilgrimage will be free for participants. It will start on Saturday morning at the Church of St. Wenceslas in Mníšek pod Brdy. Everyone can set off at his or her own pace, however, at 8.30 a.m. it is possible to join a group with a guide.

The route from Mníšek pod Brdy will lead through the pilgrimage site of Skalka, which stands at the foot of the Brda Ridges above the town. It is a unique place where there is the Church of St. Mary Magdalene, a former monastery, 14 chapels of the Stations of the Cross and a hermitage. The genius loci of this place attracts people's attention from afar. For those interested, a short guided tour of the site will be prepared at 9.00.

The route will then continue along the ridge path through Hřebeny, through the village of Svinaře, the town of Liteň, the Korno conservation area, the Koda nature reserve to Tetín, a place associated with the life of Ludmilla, a princess and the first Czech saint. At 4 p.m., the opening of the exhibition on Olga Havel will take place in the Church of St. Jan Nepomucký, which will include a talk about the first lady and a musical performance by Petr Hejný. After the visit to Tetín, the pilgrimage will end with a comfortable descent to the train station in Beroun.

The whole route is less than 23 km long (details of the trip on maps.cz/s/faduzasoro). The exhibition and opening is organized by the Association of St. Ludmila in Tetín, the event is supported by the Central Bohemia Region.
