Vojtěch and Litavka: a new perspective – discover nature, history and stories of the mining industry
The Litavka and Vojtěch woodland parks in Příbram are popular spots for walks and relaxation. But now you can explore them in a slightly different way. The nature trail has undergone a significant transformation and, in addition to new information panels, now features new outdoor furniture, a charging point for e-bikes and an interactive playground.
Fourteen stops, fourteen stories
The most notable change is the new information panels. You’ll find twelve of them in Litavka Forest Park and a further two in Vojtěch Forest Park. But forget about long blocks of text that you have to read from start to finish. The new panels focus primarily on illustrations, interesting facts and engaging storytelling.
You’ll learn more about the River Litavka, get a glimpse into life underwater, and discover the history of mining and processing precious metals, as well as the crafts that were practised in the Litavka area. And there’s even a nearly forgotten technical curiosity: a cableway for transporting ore.
You may well discover that places you’ve walked past many times before conceal far more than meets the eye.
Illustrations with plenty to discover
The content of the new panels was prepared by Klára Smolíková, a writer and author of children’s books who has long been dedicated to making history accessible and educating children. The illustrations were created by Lukáš Fibrich.
His illustrations are not merely decorative. They form part of the stories and encourage careful observation. Thanks to this, a walk along the trail can be enjoyable even for children who might not be thrilled by the long texts on traditional information boards.
Taking your mobile into the countryside? Go ahead this time
Another new feature is the interactive play areas, which combine a walk in the countryside with a mobile app. Transmitter points are located throughout both forest parks, through which the app offers interactive tasks, quizzes, games and physical activities.
The iPlaygrounds are primarily designed for families with children. In Vojtěch Forest Park, you can also try out a game on the theme of mining, which commemorates the area’s past.
Relaxing on a bench made from old clothes
The facilities in both forest parks have also been upgraded. There are 31 new benches, 15 litter bins and a bicycle rack. What is particularly interesting is the material from which they are made – it is produced by recycling textiles. Old clothes have thus been given a second lease of life in the form of street furniture that will serve visitors to the forest parks.
In Vojtěch Forest Park, you can make use of a charging station for e-bikes.
Head to Litavka and Vojtěch
Whether you’re heading here with the children for activities and games, on a bike, for a walk with the dog, or simply to escape the city for a while, do try to stop by the new information panels on your way this time.
You might be surprised at how many stories are hidden along the Litavka. Just set off and start exploring.
