Where to go in Příbram for greenery: 11 parks and natural places you must visit
Příbram, a town with a rich mining and spiritual history, also offers a number of green oases ideal for relaxing, walking and exploring nature. We have selected eleven parks and natural sites worth visiting.
1. Forest of Korab
The Koráb Forest near the Church of St. Prokop in Březové Hory is a place with a rich history and natural atmosphere. In the past it served as a source of wood, but it was also a spiritual place where mining festivals were held. The name Koráb itself has several possible interpretations. To some, the density of the forest could resemble a ship, while others lean towards an interpretation from old forestry parlance, where "korab" refers to an old uprooted tree. There used to be many of these. The stand of lime trees that have lined the hill by the church for more than a century is also a distinctive feature. In front of its entrance there are two sturdy linden trees declared as memorial trees. It is said that people named them after their patronesses - the closer to the church is Kateřina, the more distant is Barborka.
